We, the NAMI on Campus chapter at the University of Colorado at Boulder strive to BREAK THE STIGMA that surrounds mental health on our own campus!
But first, what is NAMI?
The National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI advocates for access to services, treatment, support and research and is steadfast in the commitment to raising awareness and building a community of hope for all those in need.
As an On Campus chapter of NAMI, we strive to:
1. Serve as a supportive group for students through
raising awareness of mental health issues on campus and
providing educational events for all students.
2. Encourage students who are experiencing mental health
problems to get help.
3. Establish strong ties and collaborate with counseling centers
on campus. Advocate for increased access and allotted time frame to
these services for students (See Resources Tab).
4. Educate and increase students’, faculty, and administrators’
awareness of mental health issues.
5. Combat the stigma that surrounds mental health conditions by
increasing awareness of these conditions, their symptoms, and
available treatment and promoting inclusiveness of students
with mental health conditions or concerns.
6. Raise funds on campus to support of club programs and events.
